Ford Apologizes For Adverts Featuring Paris Hilton In Car With The Kardashians Bound & Gagged In Trunk

The Kardashians appear bound and gagged in the backseat of a Ford Figo as part of an ad that was leaked online. The Detroit automaker is condemning the ad, which was never paid for and wasn’t supposed to be released, its ad company claims.

Ford was forced to apologize Monday for a series of ads that feature scantily clad cartoon women, including caricatures of the Kardashian sisters, bound and gagged in the trunk of a hatchback.

While the ads were never officially released, the images caused an uproar online after they were posted late Friday on the Ads of the World website. The campaign appears to have been geared toward an Indian audience , the car featured is a Figo, which is manufactured in India and sold in developing countries.

A spokeswoman for the automaker in India said the company is investigating whether officials ever saw the final product or had approved its creation. Advertising agency JWT India was behind the off-color ads, according to Forbes.
We take this very seriously and are reviewing approval and oversight processes, and taking necessary steps to ensure nothing like this ever happens again,” Ford spokeswoman Sethi Deepti said in an email.

JWT India CEO Colvyn Harris also condemned the ads.

These were made as posters by individuals. They have never been paid for and were not expected to be released,” he told India’s Economic Times newspaper.

In one ad, the Kardashians are tied up in the trunk of a yellow Figo as Paris Hilton, their reality TV rival winks from the front seat. Leave your worries behind with Figo’s extra-large boot,” reads a tagline.

Another ad features former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, no stranger to sex scandals, flashing a peace sign while three busty brunettes are tied up in the trunk of a red Figo.

Some Twitter users called the images “disgusting” and “sleazy.”

A third ad, however, didn’t draw the same outrage. It features Formula One driver Michael Schumacher abducting his male racing competition: Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
